Greene County district court, week ending Oct. 20

In Greene County district court Steven Bret Wetzel, 54, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 18 to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Benny Paul Pedersen, 36, of Lake City was sentenced wo 10 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay an amount not to exceed $1,000 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $360.75 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Coleman Keith Marlow Jr, 42, of Jefferson was sentenced to 90 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of harassment- first degree. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. Marlow was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. A case against Edward Kanneh, 23, of Altoona in which he was charged with domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow was dismissed with court costs assessed to the state.

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Isabell Amanda Perez, 21, of Churdan, unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,500 (three counts); Colton Bishop, 37, of Des Moines, operating while intoxicated- second offense; Brandon Lee Nevins, 42, of Grimes, driving while license barred; Dawn Maria Miller, 53, of Carroll, burglary- third degree motor vehicle- second or subsequent, theft- fourth degree and burglary- third degree motor vehicle; Tory Richard Beger, 29, of Grand Junction, OWI- second offense; Devin Christopher Hackfort, 27, of Jefferson, assault on persons in certain occupations- bodily injury, and interference with official acts inflicting bodily injury; Kailee Kay Davidson, 23, of Boone, possession of marijuana- second offense and possession of methamphetamine- second offense; Brandon Lee Ferguson, 25, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; and Teresa Ann Johnson, 43, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. Trial dates were set for Dec. 12 for Bishop, Perez, Nevins, Beger, Hackfort, Davidson and Johnson. Trial dates were set for Jan. 30, 2024, for Miller and Ferguson.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Kayleigh Lynn Anderson, 22, of Boone, operating while intoxicated; Viatcheslav Zakjevskii, 39, of Ames, OWI; Kelly Duane Beaman, 50, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine; Cheri Jessica Collins, 52, of Jefferson, OWI; Jordan Lee Khommanyvang, 21, Rockwell City, OWI; James Leon Cunningham, 49, of Jefferson, possession of controlled substance, third or subsequent offense; Cheri Jessica Collins, 52, of Jefferson, OWI; John Ryan Smith 36, of Paton, OWI; Bryce Randal Delaney, 46, of Jefferson, theft- first degree; Marlene Eleanor Anderson, 54, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug; and Jacob Ryan Cooklin, 29, of Virginia Beach, VA, possession of marijuana- first offense.
